Clinical opinion: At 1st appointment orthodontist will do initial examination and possibly take panoramic x-ray. From this orthodontist can determine need for rx and best timing for rx. It's a screening examination, so expect that if rx is indicated that more tests (records) are then scheduled. Remember, every patient is different, every orthodontist is different, and therefore rx will differ.

1st appointment: This all depends on how the particular office opperates. At my first appointment (consultation), I give the perspective patient information about what I feel is in their best interest. After obtaining full records and performing a diagnosis/treament plan, the next appoint is impressions for study models/spacer...a week later, the braces are put on.

The Orthodontist will do an exam to determine if you would benefit from orthodontics. Typically they will also take photographs and x-rays to give you all the possible details. In an efficient office, you may even be able to get your braces put on that day if you desire.
