Clarity: Know what the problem seems to be and what about it bothers you. Tell the dr what your concerns are ( come in with a written list). Make sure all your questions are answered and enough time is taken for a thorough clinical exam. Ask about treatment time, technique and cost.

A nice experience: You will meet the doctors and staff and get a look at the office. You will get a chance to tell the doctor what you would like your teeth to look like and the doctor will tell you what your options are. You might want to jump right in or you may want to get other opinions before you decide what you would like to do.

Consultation?: If your 1st visit is the initial consultation, the appointment should be fairly informative and not very invasive. The initial consultation normally requires reviewing of the health history form, visual inspection of your teeth, your bite, jaw movement assessment, and time for questions and answers. Make sure you let your orthodontist know what your chief concerns are.

Information: Your consult will discuss treatment options and plans, estimated timing, fees and payment/financing options. All of your questions should get addressed. Typically this will all be done at no charge. We also typically take a pano x-ray and photos at this consultation as well.

Clinical opinion: The Orthodontist will look at you and possibly at your x-rays, decide if you are in need of Orthodontic treatment, if you will be a good candidate, and give you a general idea as to length of time in treatment, cost, and available treatment (appliance) choices.
