Perhaps: A horizontal overbite greater than 2mm or a vertical overbite deeper than 50% are indications that there are other problems. See an orthodontic specialist for an initial examination (often complimentary) to answer the question.

Please note that if your front teeth do not meet and function properly, it can result in untoward wear of back teeth and possibly joint dysfunction.
