Open contact: An open interproximal contact will cause an acute stage of gingivitis that will cause pain and localized bleeding in the area due to food impaction. Good contact between teeth will prevent or alleviate food impaction and ultimately gum pain. If you have to floss due to food stuck after every time you eat, you definitely have open interproximal contact that needed to be close. Call your dentist.

Flossing: It sounds like you know how important flossing so so start flossing. When was the last time you had your teeth cleaned and checked? There may be other reasons for your pain such as decay, or gums infections. See a dentist and start flossing. Once you get into, the habit or flossing your mouth will be healthier.

Floss!: When you don't brush and floss properly, plaque builds up, calculus forms, bacteria flourish on the food debris and your gums become red, inflamed, sore and bleed. What you need is routine good dental care including professional cleanings. You must floss! Then your teeth and gums will be healthy and you will be free of pain and suffering.
