Tough to know...: What type of practice are you going to? Is it a private care, self pay office? Or are you being seen in an insurance funded clinic? Makes a big difference in the advice. Clinics tend to overbook patients as not to ever leave the chair empty due to no shows. Private offices will schedule accordingly and charge for missed appointments. Speak to the manager of the office to express your frustration.

Long waits: Complain and ask to be shown more courtesy. See if it makes a difference. Each private office operates differently. Usually clinics and insurance practices that have lower fees have longer waits. It goes with the territory and is the trade-off for lower fees. If you're still not happy, you can try going to another dental office. Ask around for a recommendation.
