Yes: Some discomfort for the first few days after having braces removed is normal. Removing the bands and brackets puts some force an the teeth, plus removing the excess orthodontic cement shakes them up a bit. You can take motrin, advil or tylenol (acetaminophen) the same way you do for a headache. The discomfort should resolve within a few days.
