I'm wondering how long can you put off a root canal retreatment?

No time frame...: There is no set "time" that you can put off the procedure. It is a bomb and you don't know how long the fuse is... It can go off at any time. The sooner you treat it the sooner you won't be suffering with unbearable pain. These things tend to hurt at the most inopportune time, like a holiday or when you're away from home... Times that finding a dentist is almost impossible.

Not for long: You can probably put it off for a little bit, but beware that if it flares up, it may require emergency surgery and you will lose your tooth. Only your endodontist knows if it's advisable to put off the procedure.
