It can happen: If there has been a lot of plaque and tartar accumulation between the teeth, the space in between can get deeper due to periodontal disease and bine loss. The space mist likely has been getting wider for some time, but due to gum inflammation, you could not see it before. Talk to your dentist to see if there are any treatments to improve or eliminate the space.
