A member asked:

Is it possible that a person with hyperthyroidism can have a tooth extraction?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hyperthyroidism: If it is an emergency, you need to have it done. Tell the oral surgeon, see your doctor. If not an emergency, get the thyroid controlled first. With b-blockers and methimazole, it is usually possible to get the ft4 near normal in 1 week or so. The main issue has to do with the interaction of the hyperthyroidism with anesthesia and stress.
