Soft Diet: Anything soft that you enjoy. Mashed potatoes, soup, a smoothie, fish, cooked vegetables, ice cream, you name it. Essentially you need to avoid anything that, once chewed, could possible have a smaller piece which could become lodged in the extraction site and become an irritant, like a potato chip. After an extraction you need food in your stomach esp if you are taking medication.

Softer foods first: The best answer can be obtained from the surgeon. That surgeon knows your particular situation and its associated risks. However, in general, you should eat softer and non-crunchy foods for at least a few days. With wisdom teeth extraction this time period may well exceed five weeks. For teeth extracted more towards the front of the mouth there is less risk of a problem and less restrictions..

Soft diet: It is important to eat a soft diet for the first day or two of healing. Avoid hard, chewy, spicy, and not foods. Do not drink thru a straw or smoke for the first 24 hours. Do not drink alcohol. Follow the instructions you were given by the dentist who extracted your tooth.
