Strange taste: Most likely due to the release of a buildup of bacteria and plaque on your tongue. Gingivitis or periodontal (gum) disease may also be at fault, or you may have oral thrush. If there is no change over several days, see your dentist for an examination.

Stirring: By brushing your tongue, you are stirring and pushing out food juice and bacteria that are deeply packed in between the fine projections of the tongue. Your tongue may be sensing the stirred fluid on it. Try using a tongue 'blade' or scraper as they do a better job. A soup spoon is round-edged and works well also. It is good to rinse right after, or use mouth rinse, for fresher taste and breath.
