Anxiety ; panic: It sounds like your doctor is doing a thorough evaluation of your problems first. Many kinds of physical symptoms are common with panic disorder, which can worsen if untreated. "antivan" [ativan] is not the best long-term answer though. You need to also see a psychiatrist for evaluation. Ssri's are very helpful both in overcoming panic attacks and depression. Cognitive therapy is important also.

Apart from Meds...: While waiting 2 see GI doc, suggest doing some reading re panic/anxiety: http://bit.Ly/12mldds + consider finding clinical psychologist who's anxiety specialist -someone who (a) uses behavioral ; cognitive-behavioral techniques, esp. 2help u build skills 2gain control of anxiety/panic; (b) uses experiential ; mindfulness techniques 2help u identify ; experience ur emotions as u're feeling them.
