A member asked:

My urinalysis comes out normal with no protein and sugar. my ultrasound on kidneys are unremarkable. my creatinine comes up 1.7 and my uric acid 9.18.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Interstitial disease: Protein in the urine represents glomerular damage which is a specific type of damage. Sugar in the urine may be from high blood sugar or dysfunction of the tubules. Interstitial kidney disease can be a problem of the blood vessels or of the tissues besides the filtering part of the kidneys. Uric acid is said to play a role in kidney disease although the mechanism is not well defined.
