Yes: When u become a regular weight lifter the muscle cells hypertrophy( become larger) but they don't increase in number.Your muscles also become more efficient .If you incorporate a cardio workout in w/ your weight workout (3-4 days per wk) u can add muscle and "tone" w/ o gaining weight.See a good personal trainer for assistance.
