Timing is important: The most sensitive test to determine if someone is having a mini stroke is the neurological examination. A ct scan or MRI scan will confirm or refute the clinical suspicion of a mini stroke. Changes on MRI scan after a stroke can be seen fairly quickly. However, the clinical examination is key.
