LUPUS: Systemic lupus is worse than discoid when it involves the renal or cns. Always be followed up by md.

Yes: A "normal lifespan" is pretty subjective. It could be 60's, 70's. In uganda most men don't live beyond their late 40's. Stay positive. Think quality over quantity. No one is guaranteed a particular lifespan. That being said with current treatments for sle regardless of which area is effected (brain/cns, GI tract, skin, etc.) you can still live a good long while.
