Esophagitis: Inflammation and acid injury from gerd can take months before significant symptoms are noticed. It needs to be treated as there is a small risk for cancer if it is not.

GERD: Acid reflux damage to the esophagus can occur quickly. However, if treated quickly with some strong acid suppressant therapy, long-term damage to the esophagus can be easily avoided.

Barium swallow test results said esophagus has normal mucosa and no gerd. Does that mean no tissue changes and no sign of cancer? Endoscopy was normal also. Could they have missed something? Ive been having chest pain in 1 spot middle of my chest?
