Yes: Doctors of osteopathic medicine (do) are fully licensed and can practice in any specialty, just as doctors of allopathic medicine (md). Facet joint injections can be performed by a number of specialties including; orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery physical medicine and rehabilitation, and anesthesiology/pain management. I would suggest a physician in any of these fields with vast experience.

Yes: Dos certainly can give injections if they have received the same training as an md. Many spine surgeons do not perform injections. I typically refer patients to mds/dos who routinely perform injections, and who have excellent rapport with patients. You want to ask about their level of experience, make sure you understand the risk and benefit discussion, and that you are comfortable with the doctor.

Surgeons: Typically don't do these injections. Only pain/spine specialists generally do these injections and they can include MDs and DOs. They can be anesthesiologists, physiatrists and even neurologists.
