Sage advice: It is important to have the hernia repaired. A hernia is basically a hole in the abdominal wall, and what can pooch through and potentially get stuck and strangulate is intestine. If the doctor had not been able to push the hernia contents back in, you would likely have had urgent surgery to remove the contents from the hernia and repair it. Avoid this development and have your hernia repaired
