Zoloft (sertraline): Like most antidepressants, zoloft (sertraline) requires at least 4-6 weeks to show effectiveness. You may need a higher dose than the 50mg you're now taking. Doctors usually titrate the dose gradually, allowing your body to become accustomed to it. Please work with your doctor to obtain symptom relief. Maybe never: The "official" answer would be 8-12 weeks. The better answer with respect to depression is possibly never. It is more likely to help with anxiety (although it may make you more anxious, temporarily, before it helps). For mild depression + anxiety, consider psychotherapy, not pills, .
