Hemoptysis....: The most common reason for coughing blood, called hemoptysis, is acute bronchitis, an infection of the airways. If you are still having hemoptysis after being treated for bronchitis, you need further work-up including a ct scan of the chest and a bronchoscopy, where a lighted scope is passed into the airways. You need to see a lung doctor asap to rule out malignancy, another cause of hemoptysis.
