No: Reducing caloric input coupled w increasing caloric utilization results in weight loss. When getting used to new braces teeth may be sore, resulting in less calories consumed and very temporary weight loss. Alas this is only temporary. Want to loose weight safely, see a nutritionist. Unfortunately it can: There are metabolites in tobacco smoke with can increase metabolism, augmenting weight loss. When people quit smoking, it is pertinent that they increase exercise and water intake and decrease calories to avoid the typical 10-15 pound weight gain. It is healthier to gain a bit a weight than continue smoking.
