He should see doc: Seems like he in quite a bit of trouble. When knee pain is so severe, braces probably won't do much at all. I suggest getting him to see a doctor who can evaluate and work up a treatment plan that is feasible for him. Medication, physical/occupational therapy can be tried. Injections into knees, back/epidural can be done in some cases. Surgical intervention maybe needed. Good luck ; happy new year.
