Try injection...: There are sclerosing alcohol injections which can disrupt the nerve signals (by killing the nerve) without surgery. This can be done in the doctor's office by simple injection. See a podiatrist in your area for details.

This would depend : On which nerve, location of entrapment and method of destruction. One can use chemicals, can heat the tissue or freeze it to ablate it. If you are in pain, i would think the reward outweighs the risk. Otherwise what are you left with? A painful foot.....Good luck, I am sure you are frustrated. Usually, the procedure you ask about is done under a small incision if and the risk should be minimal.

Nerve : As answered, this depends on which nerve is entrapped. This can range from freeing the nerve to ablation with injections. See your podiatrist for help and chart a course together. Good luck.

It is an option.: You may not need to destroy the nerve. It may be entrapped and may be able to be released from the scar tissue. You may benefit with an mri.

Unpredictable: Surgery for an entrapped nerve can be unpredictable. Often the patient will experience numbness or tingling up to 18 months after such nerve surgery . Conservative treatments could include cortisone injections and MLS Laser treatments.
