Need follow up U/S: Normally, the yolk sac appears as a circular structure with anechoic center ; surrounding uniform well defined wall. An irregular (abnormally shaped) yolk sac can be observed in early pregnancy ultrasound and may be seen in up to 17% of early pregnancy scans. While it does raise a concern, some studies suggest that an irregular yolk sac is unrelated to an increased risk of spontaneous abortion.
