Eustachian tube : The eustachian tube allows mucus to drain from the middle ear to the throat. It opens occasionally, permitting air to enter the middle ear, which is what is happening when you blow your nose. The tube can be narrowed by irritants, allergens or infection, causing a build up of fluid in your ears. The sinus cavities are physically separate but can be affected by the same process.
