Nose breathers: Babies are notorious nose breathers. That is why you may have been given a bulb syringe when you went home from the hospital use it to suck out the mucus from your baby' s nose . You may also use salt water nose drops and a vaporizer. The discharge from your baby's eye is a reaction to the antibiotic that was put in her eye at birth. Use warm water compresses to whip it away.

Swollen or narrow...: She may have swollen and/or very narrow nasal passages, and this makes her breathing sound very noisy and congested. Many babies have this as a result of their faces getting squished during delivery. Try and reduce irritants in the air (smoke, perfumes, odors) and have high humidity level in her environment. The eye sounds like a plugged tear duct, also very common. Have doc show how to massage it.
