go with majority: Lattice degeneration may or may not be a significant risk factor for retinal tears and detachment. Since lattice is very common in myopia, and myopia is a significant risk factor for retinal tears and detachment, the science is difficult. The american academy of ophthalmology does not recommend routine laser of lattice in the absence of retinal tears or fellow eye retinal detachment.
