Chronic Pain: Most pain clinics focus on treating pain without addicting medications like the pills you're boyfriend is taking. He should see either a medical physician or a psychologist who has experience in treating chronic pain with other techniques. I, myself, have been able to cope with degenerative disk disease for 35 years without narcotics or surgery. Get him to a specialist.

He should seek: A second opinion. Really a horrible thing to be on lortabs for scoliosis. No narcotic medication is needed to treat this. He needs to see a scoliosis specialist, as whomever started him on lortabs for scoliosis treatment is not managing the diagnosis as it should. Taking narcotics for a chronic issue like this is a bad idea, usually does not end well. There are better treatments.
