Most likely : Canker sores appear in the mouth area (tongue, gums, lip) and are small, shallow ulcers that make talking and eating uncomfortable they are gray in color and have a distinct edge. The sores will usually heal within 10 to 14 days, without treatment. It is almost impossible to diagnose without an examination. You need to se a dentist for proper diagnosis and treatment.

It could be...: Maybe it's a canker sore (apthous ulcer); it could also be a lot of other things. It would be best to have your dentist take a look soon; that way your headed in the right direction: if it resolves, you know your mouth better. If not, your already started toward the treatment you need.

canker sore: It may be - they generally last 7-10 days it also might be a stone in your salivary gland duct- that would swell up slightly and come and go.
