A member asked:

If you have hemorroids and you notice blood in your stool & see it when you wipe, how do you determine if its the hemorroids or something else?

look inside: First, hemorrhoids do not typically cause blood "in" the stool. Bright red blood on the toilet paper or a few drops into the toilet would be common but not in the stool. The main this we would want to rule out would be a tumor or cancer, which would be unusual but not rare in a 31 year old. Tumors also usually do not bleed much. There is no reliable home test to tell the difference.
