Brewer's Yeast: Brewer's yeast comes from a 1-celled fungus (saccharomyces cerevisiae) used in making beer, but not bread. It's been used for years as a nutritional supplement, because it's rich in b-complex vitamins, chromium, and selenium. However, it contains no vitamin b12. Studies have shown it helpful in diabetes, high cholesterol, etc -- but no direct effect on thyroid. http://tinyurl.com/kfvkmn5.
