Interesting finding: A Danish study confirmed increased risk to develop hypothyroidism for up to 85 % of subjects and in 2 years after quitting smoking. It might have to do with the ability of the organism to reset that may take years. The way to play it forward would be watchful waiting until seeing undesired chronic symptoms of hypothyroidism, among which cognitive decline would be critical aside from weight gain.
