Ointments on bites: Insect or spider bites rarely result in infection. Using an antibiotic ointment probably won't prevent an infection. However, an ointment of any kind on the surface may help decrease pain as some bites feel worse when exposed to air.

Insect bite. Red raised bump and then often itchy rash extended out about 1.5 inches to left (no bullseye). If it was Lymes would it have kept expanding? Would it also have faded away after two days of Neosporin if it were Lymes? No other symptoms?
