Is proteinuria a kidney disease?

No: You're simply leaking protein into your urine. The most common single cause is that a few percent of people do this just by standing up. It's easy to rule this in or out and your phyiscian will probably begin your workup this way.

Proteinuria: Proteinuria is a sign of kidney disease. Its differential diagnosis is a long list. You need to see a nephrologist to find out the cause with some urine and blood tests, and of course your exam and medical history helps! Good luck!
