Bleeding ears: If dried wax is scraped off the side of the ear canal some skin may taken with it resulting in minor bleeding. It won't cause any long term harm. However, it is better to not put anything in the ear unless you are a professional as you may puncture the ear drum. A good way to clean ears is by using hydrogen peroxide for a few minutes per ear. Do not use this if pe tubes are present.

Have Him Seen!: If you used a q-tip then the eardrum might have been damaged. Do not flush anything in the ear until it has been evaluated by a professional and the status of the eardrum is evaluated. Ask about safer ways to clean the ears.
