.: For patients with cardiac issues we like their potassium to be around 4, otherwise the normal level is 3.5 to 5. Generally (if u don't have kidney problems) every 10 meq brings up the blood potassium by 0.1. You should be fine by taking the 20 meq but always check with your doc because low (or high) potassium can cause cardiac rhythm problems.
