Long vs short acting: You get a higher initial peak blood level from Ritalin (methylphenidate) than from concerta. This could explain the difference in effects.

Yes: Both Ritalin and Concerta share the same active ingreadient - methylphenidate. There can be many factors as to why you have anxiety with one and not the other but one factor could be how the medicine is delivered. Concerta maintains a more continuous, higher level in the bloodstream while Ritalin would have more spikes and valleys with ultimately a lower level in your bloodstream.
