A member asked:

Is the only way cervical myelopathy diagnosed is from a mri? can a ncs?

A SEQUENCE: History and exam provides an initial diagnosis which can be confirmed via MRI and even spinal tap. An emg-ncs is a test for peripheral nervous system issues, from the nerve roots outward, and cannot provide good data regarding spinal cord problems. An evoked potential study has been used on occasion, but is, in my experience highly unreliable.
