SUGGEST: Let's assume delayed healing, and reliable post-op workup. Your next step involves rehabilitation intervention, and would strongly endorse experienced hand therapist, usually an occupational therapy background in concert with a physical therapy team. You need a rehab facility, with extensive experience, as all clinics are NOT equal, and some could be wasted effort. Good luck.
