A member asked:

Are nerve conduction studies (as opposed to sseps, and needle emgs) only used to detect peripheral nerve issue vs. spinal nerves? could a ncs highlight myelopathy for example? thanks?

Yes, NCS is very useful in the diagnosis of peripheral neuropathy. It may contribute in the diagnosis in myelopathy but it is not the study of choice. Neurologists in this forum will soon give you some insights.

Dr Le is correct. A great test to evaluate large fiber peripheral neuropathy and radiculopathies, but does not examine spinal cord directly. Abnormalities with F wave and H reflex testing might provide suspicions for proximal issues, but followup imaging would be definitive.
