Facet arthropathy: The spine is just a bunch of joints stacked on top of each other. It can get arthritis just like your knees or hands. Fluid can build up in the facet joints in a similar fashion, sometimes even causing a cyst to form ("synovial cyst"). I would consider meeting a pain management doctor to see if injections in the facets can help.

Analgesics: Fluid in facets joints is a reflection of inflammation. This may be result of arthritis or instability. Try rest and antiinflammatories to help with pain.

Spine Joints: Facet joints are places on the spinal bones where two bones actually meet and articulate. Many times arthritis or inflammation can arise here and cause pain. Treatments like facet joint injections or radiofrequency ablation may be used to get relief.
