Amitriptylene: Amitriptylene is not an "addictive" medication. It does not induce tolerance as benzodiazepines like xanax, (alprazolam) etc, can. In some people it can increase appetite, leading to weight gain. However, you are on a very low (20mg) dose, so this is less likely. Also you are forewarned and can now increase exercise and eat more healthily so you avoid even that potential issue. Good luck to you!

Amitriptyline effect: Amitriptyline typically doesn't have an addictive quality. Also, if a patient takes the medication appropriately (following prescription directions, not taking more than prescribed), the risk of addiction in general is low. It can have weight-gain as a side-effect, however.

Sinus headache: Hello, the question i would have is do you have sinusitis or migranes. Typically Amitriptyline is a well tolerated medication with little side effects.
