Talk to your doctor : Sometimes Elavil (amitriptyline) helps with headaches. In your case, it sounds like you are experiencing some side effects. Talk to your doctor about discontinuing and trying something else. There are several options available and your doctor will be able to advise you based on your history.

Amitriptyline: It is a Tricyclic antidepressant used also for headaches prophylaxis. Take to your doctor about other similar compounds which may be better tolerated, such as Pamelor (nortriptyline) or Nortriptyline.

Suggestion: Am totally unimpressed with any benefit prophylactically secondary to amitriptyline to stop migraine at your dosage and you are having adverse reactions. Contact your doctor.
