Migraines?: You may have migraines and at age 17 , the chief cause may be lack of sleep. See a neurologist for an evaluation and treatment.

Chronic migraine: Almost certainly you have migraines, the most common cause of chronic headaches with a normal exam. Amitriptyline is one preventative, perhaps another agent would work better. If you are taking an otc pain med or something like fiorcet, you may have rebound/medication overuse headaches. You need a good acute agent (ie a triptan ie imitrex). You also should get regular sleep and exercise.

Could be migraines: I agree with my colleague that you could have migraines -- and there are many treatments that can help. If not working with a neurologist, this could be a good idea - -and one who's familiar with integrative treatments would give you more options that are still sensible. Magnesium, coq10, feverfew, and butterbur can be very helpful. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22868542.
