Follow prescriber's advice for gradual tapering of xanax (alprazolam) (such as half a pill a week) and management of anxiety and tension through life skills/strategies (relaxation, visual imagery, rhythmic breathing, meditation, exercise, focus on positive thoughts and activities) can be very helpful.
