Gum pain: Antibiotics treat bacterial infections and may or may not have any effect on reducing your pain. They certainly won't cure the problem without accompanying treatment. See a dentist as soon as possible for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Take some otc medication such as advil, aleve, (naproxen) Motrin or what you would normally take for a headache in the meantime.
