A member asked:

My baby first tooth is the lateral incisor is this normal?

Unusual: 1st tooth should be lower central incisor. Your child may be congenitally missing central, or central may have erupted ectopically into lateral space. See your dentist for examination. Referral to a pediatric dental specialist may be in order. Note that eruption anomalies of baby teeth may signal eruption anomalies of permanent teeth. Take your child to orthodontist at age 7 for exam.

Are you sure?: Did the child's dentist tell you that? It could be the central incisor that is erupting a bit off center. Not the typical order of eruption.
