Foot Drop: Foot drop is due to a neurologic injury,  if improving already then some of the damage was to the insulation on the nerve called myelin.  It will improve overtime.  In the mean time safe activity such as yoga is good for your whole body.  It will not speed up the recovery of the nerve injury itself but it will help with overall fitness and make you more conditioned as the nerve heals.

Maybe: Exercise will not help the short leg but it may help the muscle strength and foot drop.

Potentially: You should definitely check with your surgeon.  There are sometimes that a foot drop may just may need more time, sometimes exercises are indicated, and sometimes even a repeat MRI is indicated.  Also, foot drop does not always resolve with surgery.  Your surgeon will know about your case.  Thank you for your question.

: Not feasible to be precise, based upon your post, but might consider the following: not clear, so far, why you have lengthy myelomalacia, but this could be secondary to Neuromyelitis Optica, Spinocerebellar Degeneration, etc.  Has effort to uncover etiology been accomplished?   Have you had full evaluation from an experienced neurologist?
Lastly, not clear as to what question needs to be answered.

It depends: Foot drop is usually caused by damage to the nerves that provide tone and stimulation to the muscles that flex the ankle.  Permanence depends on the amount of injury done to those nerves, and an individual's regenerative ability.  A neurologist can do testing that will help determine the amount of damage that has been done.  For this condition, a physician should be consulted.

Foot drop: The inability to raise (extend) your foot at your ankle usually due to a problem associated with the common peroneal nerve (and also lower spine problems).

In severe cases, the patient is completely unable to raise the foot.  In milder cases, the ability to walk on your heels is impossible.

: If the foot drop is in the foot you use to control the accelerator or the brake, no you shouldn't be driving. Foot drop means you don't have good control over that foot, and the reaction time in a sudden stop or acceleration would not be adequate for you to be safe. If you can't be safe, other people sharing the road with you aren't safe either.

Yes: If from peroneal nerve compression, it often resolves on its own over time.  In some cases surgical decompression (of either the peroneal nerve or L5 nerve root) may help considerably.  If all else fails, there are devices that will stimulate the foot dorsiflxion muscles..

Neuropathy: Alcohol induced neuropathy isn't cured but rehabbed and maintained.  At this time, there isn't a cure but obviously stopping alcohol consumption is a first step.  Usually pt/ot is needed as well as bracing but there isn't a cure.
