It depends: Foot drop is usually caused by damage to the nerves that provide tone and stimulation to the muscles that flex the ankle. Permanence depends on the amount of injury done to those nerves, and an individual's regenerative ability. A neurologist can do testing that will help determine the amount of damage that has been done. For this condition, a physician should be consulted.

Foot drop: It depends on what is causing the foot drop. But the most general answer, unfortunately, is yes it is permanent.
